Steeped, Yet Never Sipped
"If I were to be killed, I'd want to be assassinated because it meant that I was someone important."
That's what my AP World teacher said in response to Julius Caeser's assassination. Now I know he meant this jokingly, but it got me thinking:
How many heroes died without getting the recognition they deserved?
Despite the thousands of memorials that exist worldwide, there are always going to be forgotten heroes who aren’t remembered for their strength, and whose tea ran cold because no one paid enough attention to drink it. It's one of those stories about refusing to let their knees hit the battleground.
The Women Air Force Service Pilots are so incredibly underrated.
(Wasp Badge, 1941-1943)
After the attacks on Pearl Harbor, the government agreed to a pitch towards a female air force, and after rigorous military training, WASP was formed as a civilian group, primarily transporting cargo to bases. During the two years they were active, 38 members of WASP died, and because their service didn’t have military status, their funerals were not funded, and personally, that irked me on multiple levels. It was not until 2010, 66 years after they disbanded, that these women received veteran status.
(WASP flight crew, 1942)
These women battled through discrimination and fought for their country from behind the scenes, so I think they're a group of underrated heroes that deserve much more credit than they have. New Orleans needs to lock in and add them to the WW2 museum or memorialize their achievements.
That's all the tea I got for this week, but I'll end with an underrated brew that shouldn't go cold :D
Chamomile is a solid 8/10, it does not deserve the hate.
Do I know what next week's blog will be? No, but you should still read it, tea is best served piping hot ~

Your tea puns are GOLD, please keep them up! You’re amazing at tackling heavy topics while adding an appropriate amount of humor that lightens the mood. So cool (even though you’re a traitor)!
ReplyDeleteI think it was great that during this talk of memorials you decided to shed a light on the lack of representation towards certain groups. I thought it was interesting to figure out about this women's air force regiment that didn’t receive any military prowess and honor despite their contributions to world war ll.
